🧾 Session 2 Notes 🏚️ Exploration of Death House Continues The players resumed their exploration of the twisted Death House, descending deeper into its haunted corridors.
🪞 Mirror Dimension At some point, the group was pulled into a mirror dimension — a distorted and surreal version of the house.
Reflections whispered.
Rooms shifted without reason.
Time and gravity seemed loose, untrustworthy.
After a tense and disorienting struggle, they escaped the mirror world — but the experience left them unsettled and uncertain about what is real.
🧒 Possession by the Durst Children After returning from the mirror dimension, the group entered the children’s bedroom in the attic.
There, they encountered the ghosts of Rose and Thorn Durst, lingering beside their long-dead skeletal remains, still curled together in the toy chest.
The air grew heavy as the children regarded their own corpses with a chilling calm.
During this encounter, the spirits possessed two party members:
Corvin was possessed by Thorn, the younger brother.
Vess was possessed by Rose, the older sister.
Their voices changed subtly. Their posture shifted. For a time, they were not themselves — driven by the ghosts' fear, regret, and unfulfilled desire for protection.
The possession was not overtly hostile but created moments of tension and unease, especially as Rose’s will lingered longer than expected.
🕯️ Descent into the Basement The party discovered the secret stair and descended into the basement, a cold and suffocating place of stone, rot, and shadows.
As they traveled deeper, a chant echoed through the halls:
"One must die... One must die..."
🩸 The Cult and the Demand for Sacrifice The players encountered a chamber of red-cloaked figures — faceless, unmoving, possibly illusions or memories of the cult.
The chanting grew louder, more insistent:
"ONE MUST DIE!"
💔 The Pendant and the Breaking Point The focus turned to Vess, who carried a strange pendant engraved with the words “One Must Die.”
The pendant pulsed with dark energy. A symbol of something ancient and binding.
As the chant demanded blood, Vess hesitated — gripped by fear and attachment. She refused to destroy the pendant.
Time slowed. The group stood at the edge of sacrifice. The pressure of the house built — and Vess almost let the others die rather than let go of the pendant.
It was then that Rose, speaking through Vess or beside her, whispered:
“You’ve carried it long enough. Break it. Let it bleed. You know it was never meant to save you. It was meant to bind you. To trap you.”
With deep hesitation, and Rose's spectral force guiding her, Vess broke the pendant upon the altar — releasing a wave of magical energy.
🦇 Strahd’s Cruel Joke In the aftermath, the voice of Strahd von Zarovich echoed through the chamber — amused, mocking.
The entire ritual, the entire ordeal, was revealed to be a twisted performance for his entertainment.
Strahd appeared (or projected himself) and invited the party to Castle Ravenloft.
Before vanishing, he threw the pendant back to Vess, whole and unbroken.
🌫️ Aftermath Without warning, the group found themselves outside.
The Death House stood behind them, quiet, intact — as if nothing had happened.
The sky above was gray. The mists lingered.
In Vess’s hand: the pendant, warm, whole.
